Why you should be in Twitter?

As I was making my way through many social media blogs, one of my collegue pointed me to SocialMediaToday. The first article I happen read was “Why People are leaving twitter?” This seemed interesting. But as I have been involved in social media research and analysing the data, I wasn’t really agreeing with the fact that people are leaving twitter. Among few reasons given,  UI of the Twitter seemd to be the blacksheep. I thought about it for a while and tried to remember what I did when I logged to twitter for the first time. The first time I created an account, twitter quickly showed me the list of my friends who were in twitter. This made my stay at the twitter enjoyable. There were many friends talking about their daily works and many discussions were going on. Soon I was engaged in reading every tweet and following people who had interesting things to say. And now after almost a year with twitter, I can see the benifits it has brought to me and my company.

So the point is – Twitter is one platform which can be used in many different ways, people jsut need to figure out how to do it. There is no one way of using twitter, there are man ways. People have high expectations and they are readily disappointied when things don’t go their way.   My say is don’t be disappointed, if you have nothing to say in Twitter, just keep listening – like a radio. Well if you are confused on how you should make your stay in Twitter useful - read this. There is no harm in it. So don’t leave so soon, take your time. And yes, Twitter must create more awareness on how Twitter can be used.
